Merry Christmas from the Householders! We have had an amazing year! Many changes...
Matt & I both changed "vocations" to some extent this year. In December 07, I left the salon I was working at, in order to go back to school in January. After finding out that I was expecting (THE DAY I STARTED SCHOOL) and being extremely sick, I had to drop all of my on campus classes about a month into the semester. I continued with online classes in the spring and summer. In June, Ripon Grace hired a new youth pastor, and Matt switched to an Associate Pastor of Outreach and Evangelism role. One of the main responsibilities he has in his new role is IGNITE - a weekly Saturday Night Contemporary Worship Service. He gets to study with our Pastor on a weekly basis, as they preach on the same passage/topic. It has been neat for me to get to hear the message on Saturday and Sunday -- hearing the concept twice from 2 different perspectives helps to cement it in my mind for the week ahead. :)
We also have had 2 additions to our family this year. In March, my sister Laurel got married to an incredible guy! We have enjoyed having him in the family. (It was also great to have our family all together at the wedding. It had been a long time.)

The next addition is one I am particularly fond of. Our daughter Kyra Mailani was born at 7:48pm on September 11, after an extremely long labor and c-section. Everyone told me that there is no describing the love that you feel for your own child, and THEY AREN'T JOKING. It amazes me HOW MUCH I love this little one that I have only known for such a short while. She is a tremendous blessing to our lives. She just started laughing 2 nights ago, and melted both of our hearts, ONCE AGAIN! She is also doing everything in her power to talk to us, at almost every waking moment. She likes to "talk." :) We enjoyed getting to see all the family again when she was born. The Patterson clan came out in September, and the Householders in October. That was great.

As we look over the past year, we are incredibly grateful for all that God has done and the amazing ways He has blessed us. But pondering Christmas (as we decorated yesterday, and are now listening to Christmas music once again), I marvel once again, at the depth of God's love for me. He sent THE BEST Christmas gift, when He sent Jesus as a little baby, to grow up and die on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. I am eternally grateful...
May you have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful 2009!!
